Ms. Ortiz’s career in law enforcement spanned 25 years during which time she served as an investigator for New York City Department of Investigation (DOI). The DOI is the City’s Inspector General, with independent oversight of City government. Their investigations may involve any agency, officer, elected official or employee of the City, as well as those who do business with or receive benefits from the City. She is currently retired and entering the next phase of her life as. Life Coach and Reiki Practitioner. Her passion is to assist others in their healing and growth journeys.

Retired DOI investigator Belarminia Ortiz will discuss smuggling, contraband sales, fight clubs, and all sorts of misconduct happening inside the prison walls. The conversation will be moderated by SinC NY member, Jacquetta Szathmari. Ms. Szathmari is a writer and educator currently working on a mystery trilogy with a bomb scene investigator as the lead.
