Member S.E. Dahlinger, with co-editor Leslie Klinger, has combed through the archives from notable illustrated journal The Bookman, published from 1895 to 1933.  The witticisms, reviews, letters, and commentary relating to the world’s greatest sleuth have been organized and annotated, and are now made available by an imprint of Wessex Books.  For many fans and scholars, this is a rich pool of fresh content, and the title’s receiving praise from no less than Otto Penzler and Jon Breen.  See Gasogene Books for more about SHERLOCK HOLMES, CONAN DOYLE, AND THE BOOKMAN. The debut mystery from our longest-distance chapter member Avery Aames (aka Daryl Wood Gerber) is now available everywhere!  THE LONG QUICHE GOODBYE is her first Cheese Shop Mystery with Berkley Prime Crime.  It’s in paper and e-book formats at your favorite bookseller.  Charlotte Bessette’s adventures begin when this small-town Ohio cheese seller finds a body outside her shop.  Worse yet, the victim’s been stabbed with one of her own prized knives.  Congratulations Avery on a great launch that proves murder and Manchego do go together!

Chris Roerden, award-winning author and manuscript editor, is giving us a workshop on Tuesday, May 25th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, here in NYC!  The Writer’s Voice will be a 2-hour, interactive seminar designed for new writers and veterans alike, examining what that “fresh, new voice” is that agents and editors keep demanding, and providing hands-on practice in finding, or refining, your own.  This workshop requires advance registration and payment, as seating is limited.  The cost is $20 for chapter members, and $25 for non-members.  Please see more details about the speaker, venue, and how to register at our Chapter Meetings page from the sidebar.
