We’re so proud of our chapter’s recently published anthology, Murder New York Style: Fresh Slices. And we’re having a great signing party and brief reading at Partners & Crime Mystery Booksellers on Thursday, December 15th at 7pm. (More info at anthology link or invitation below.) Member News: Cathi Stoler’s Springing Up Everywhere!

Cathi Stoler‘s debut novel, Telling Lies, is released today! This thriller jet sets from Florence, Italy to NYC, and includes murder, a presumed missing person, and stolen Nazi art. If that weren’t enough good news, her latest short story, “Fatal Flaw,” based on international intrigue among the casinos and canals of Venice, can now be read online at Beat to a Pulp magazine.

Member News: Peggy Ehrhart’s Blues Sequel

This month sees the publication of member Peggy Ehrhart’s sequel in her blues mystery series. In the new release, GOT NO FRIEND ANYHOW, Maxx Maxwell, the hardest-working and unluckiest singer on Manhattan’s blues scene encounters more deadly complications when she tries to get her band’s demo CD recorded at Prowling Rooster Records.

Member News: 2 Agatha Nominations

The Agatha Award nominations have been announced for the upcoming Malice Domestic convention, to be held from April 29th to May 1st of this year, and two of our local Sisters are on the rolls!

Avery Aames has been nominated in the Best First Novel category for THE LONG QUICHE GOODBYE, and Elizabeth Zelvin was nominated in the Best Short Story category for “The Green Cross” which appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.

As always, there’s terrific company and competition among the wonderful nominees, but we’re delighted and proud to have two local Sisters recognized in this special way, and very good luck to you both!

Member News: Christmas Crimes

Our chapter members have been so busy writing and publishing short stories this year, perhaps in unprecedented numbers. In this season, there are two, particularly thematic offerings for which we wish to raise a cup of cheer. Lina Zeldovich’s Russian-holiday-themed short story “Believe” is now online at Beat to a Pulp. And, Elizabeth Zelvin’s historical “Natividad” appears in the current holiday/year-end issue of Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine.

Congratulations to them both!

And let us wish all of our Sisters and their dear ones an equally bright (and occasionally criminal) New Year!

Members Talk Murder in Kips Bay

On Tuesday, September 14th, at 6:30pm, chapter members will participate in a panel discussion of Murder in Manhattan at the Kips Bay Library. The event’s open to everyone who wants to find out what makes this small island such a perennial favorite for murder.

Member News: 3 Sisters Meet Spec!

Members Elizabeth Zelvin, Lina Zeldovich, and Terrie Farley Moran have all had short stories accepted into the newest charitable anthology from Tony Burton’s Wolfmont Press. The themed collection becomes available near the holidays, and all the profits will go the charity Homes for Our Troops.

Member News: Lina Zeldovich’s Busy Summer!
